- ‘Organs on Ann Street’ took place last Saturday. Approximately 200 people listened to organs played at St John’s Anglican Cathedral, St Andrew’s Lutheran Church, St Andrew’s Uniting Church and Ann St Uniting Church. Ross Windsor showcased our Bethlehem organ with beautiful music. A wonderful event.
- The Worship Committee will meet in the church office after choir practice tonight Thursday 23 May (7pm).
- Wine and word books are now in. Please see Jeff Ost for your copy, books are $19 each
- Shedmen at Nazareth Church, 12 Hawthorne St., WOOLLOONGABBA. Tuesday 4th June, 2019 at 6.30pm for 7.00pm at Nazareth Hall adjoining Church. Cost: $5.00 per person for meal includes soft drink. June 2019 meeting: I am sure most of us have been to functions where someone we never knew existed presents an address which is absolutely riveting, absorbing and people are literally rolling around laughing. This month’s guest speaker is one of those captivating people. He is Dr. James Lergessner, with a University career, keen observer of people, places and happenings. Author of several books and he may bring some with him and after you have heard him you may well want to buy one. The subjects he can talk on are many and varied. The Kilcoy Massacre caught my eye or perhaps what living the 50’s was really like. Whatever it is, it will be very interesting and I am confident you’ll enjoy the talk. R.S.V.P by 5pm Monday 3rd June, to Eric Parups, Nazareth Shedmen Co-ordinator 0408 880372 or girts@optusnet.com.au p.s. please call Eric if you know of a likely guest speaker
- There will be an Extraordinary Congregational Meeting after the morning service on Sunday 26 May. At this meeting we will be voting on a whether to accept an offer for the sale of the St Lucia manse. Because this meeting is discussing the possibility of disposal of property, we need a higher than normal quorum. This is an important decision and we need as many people as possible to be part of the decision-making process as the manse is a significant financial asset. It would be appreciated if you could RSVP either by return email or by leaving a phone message in the church office so that we know we will have the required number of attendees.
- Australia will once again observe National Sorry Day (Sunday 26 May) and Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June). We do this in acknowledgement that all Australians, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, share this land and together we must build a united future. Bishop John Henderson discusses this further in his Heartland eNews which is attached.
- The service on the morning of 9 June marks Pentecost. During the service, the text of John 3:16 will be read in many languages – up to 18 so far. If you would like to read in a language other than English, please let Shiron or Carmen know. A congregational lunch of ‘international’ soups will follow the service. If you would like to contribute one or more soups to the lunch, or can spare some time on Saturday 8 June to set up the hall for the lunch, please let Shiron or Carmen know.
- Choir has resumed and meets in the choir loft at 6pm Thursdays. We are currently preparing to sing at Pentecost on 9 June.
- Please remember in your prayers
